Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
Basal cell carcinoma is the most benign type of common skin cancer. Basal cell carcinoma begins in the basal cells — a type of cell within the skin that produces new skin cells as old ones die off. Basal cell carcinoma often appears as a slightly transparent bump on the skin, though it can take other forms. It is common on sun exposed areas, especially on the tops of ears and on the neck and shoulders. Dr. Mendy will examine, biopsy, and remove any suspicious or problematic lumps or moles that can degenerate into cancer.
