Laryngo-Pharyngeal Reflux Disease (LPRD)
Dr. Mendy Maccabee treats LPRD – Laryngo-Pharyngeal Reflux Disease in Hood River
Laryngo-Pharyngeal Reflux Disease is the reverse flow of stomach acid all the way up the esophagus where it irritates the voice box and throat. It is an extreme form of GERD which can cause voice changes, cough, and the sensation of something stuck in your throat (globus sensation). Typical symptoms include intermittent hoarseness, throat clearing, cough, trouble swallowing, and difficulty breathing. LPRD can occur even if you do not have the classic feeling of heartburn or other typical GERD symptoms. Dr. Mendy will help you diagnose LPRD with specific questions and an exam of your vocal cords, and make a treatment plan tailored to you. Lifestyle modifications, common or prescription medications, or further surgical option discussions.
